Imperial Decoration awarded to Dato’ Seri Ir Dr Zaini Ujang

The Government of Japan announced foreign national recipients of Decorations by Emperor of Japan for 2022 spring conferment. Dr. Zaini Ujang Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment and Water (Kementerian Alam Sekitar Dan Air) was honored the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star to recognize his outstanding contribution to strengthening bilateral relations between Japan and Malaysia in the field of energy, environment, water and higher education.
Dato’ Seri Ir Dr Zaini made outstanding contributions to strengthening the Look East Policy between Japan and Malaysia as Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education. As Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment and Water, Dato’ Seri Ir Dr Zaini took an important role in deepening the bilateral relations in the fields of energy, environment and water by promoting water-related projects such as improvement of non-revenue water and construction of sewage treatment plants. Dato’ Seri Ir Dr Zaini also contributed to the academic and personal exchange between Malaysia and Japan through his energetic engagement in the establishment of the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT).
