The Humid Tropics Hydrology and Water Resources Centre for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, better known as HTC Kuala Lumpur (HTC KL) has been established upon the approval of the Malaysia Cabinet Paper on 17th April 1996. Hence, on 28th October 1999 the history has witnessed Momento of Malaysia and United Nations of Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Inspired by the Knowledge Enhancement and Awareness towards Water Security, HTC KL was founded as a catalyst in carrying out its UNESCO Water Centre Category 2 (WC2) functions on the international collaboration in hydrology and water resources towards achieving the 2030 Agenda of the sustainable development goals.
Within its capacity as WC2 under the auspices of UNESCO, HTC KL will continuosly increase the scientific and technological knowledge about hydrological cycle as well as facilitate in the knowledge exchange and water education thus increasing the capacity to the capacity to better manage and develop the integrated water resources management .
